Popper Topper PDP
A Popper Topper is a swappable embossing top that takes your popper tools to the next level. Thread on the embossing pattern of your choice to the corresponding base and cut your pops like normal. Press the embosser deeper into the dough to add the design to your pop. Indentations remain visible after dipping in chocolate for easy decorating.
You'll need to purchase a base for each size topper you plan to use. Each base comes with a free matching cutter.

Additive manufacturing opens up a whole new world of just-in-time, custom product development. While 3D printing has been around for a while, we started using it at Daisy Pops to print display stands in 2019. In 2023 we started making custom cutters and other tools a part of our regular popping process.
We design all of our files in Adobe Illustrator and Fusion 360 and print them out using state-of-the-art extrusion printers.
Anything we make that comes into direct contact with food is printed using FDA-certified PLA+ or PETG filament. PLA+ is a plant-based plastic that is biodegradable and stronger than regular PLA. PETG is another plastic that we use from time to time instead of PLA+ that is even more durable and is also recyclable.
For displays, we tend to use a wider variety of PLA and PLA+ based on the finish quality and appearance desired.

PLA+ and PETG are great materials, but the do require proper care to last use after use.
First, our products are heat and ultraviolet sensitive. Don't put your products in any sort of dishwasher or subject to high temperature water above 140º F. Also, don't leave them in bright sunlight like in a kitchen window or on the seat of your car. UV can make the plastic degrade at an accelerated rate.
Wash thoroughly with soap and warm water upon receiving your products and after each use. We recommend a typical dish brush for scrubbing.
Immediately after washing, let your product air dry thoroughly.
For additional sanitization, you can use Steramine tablets according to the manufacturer's instructions being sure to not soak your products for more than 20 minutes. Again, don't use water that is above 140º F, or the product may soften and warp.

Daisy Pops—Daisy Make's sister company—started as a home bakery and is now a commercial bakery in Kent, OH. We first started making our own displays and then shaping tools for our own use before other bakeries started asking if they could purchase our tools as well. With the consistency, speed, and customizability that our products provide, there's a lot to like!
When combining a newer technology with food processing, there should be research and review to make sure tools are not only effective, but also safe. If you Google "3D printing food safety," you'll find a wide variety of thoughts on the subject. This article from Prusa is a great example of a rational, non-scientific opinion. Academic research on the subject is highly positive regarding the safety of 3D print in food and medical applications. As a commercial kitchen, we comply with health department standards and use Daisy Makes products as a part of that reviewed set of requirements.
We encourage you to review resources and be inquisitive as well as skeptical. We're also happy to chat about our experiences! Of course, any tool can become unsafe if not cared for properly. Following our care instructions is what we recommend and how we comply with our own health department requirements.
For complete instructions on how to use our products, check out each product page where we have helpful instructions documentation.
The most important consideration for the Popper System is to match the depth that you roll your dough with the correct cutter size to achieve the ounce product you desire. Every dough is going to be different, but the Daisy Makes system is designed with a range of sizes including Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large to help you achieve consistent, repeatable forming and portioning results.

Daisy Makes is the sister company of Daisy Pops which is our cake pop bakery in downtown Kent, OH. We started as a home bakery in 2018 and grew into a commercial bakery with around 20 employees producing roundly 150,000 cake pops per year as of 2024.
We love sharing our techniques, best practices, and building community around cake popping and making, in general.
Our partnership with our design firm Each+Every gives us the tools and ability to create and prototype solutions to create and sell our cake pops at a growing scale with a team of bakers and decorators. We switched from the typical spherical cake pops to cut disc pops in 2020. Disc pops can be made in endless shapes, consistent sizes, and increased our productivity immensely.
At the intersection of cake popping, design, and problem solving, we started Daisy Makes in 2024 as a means of bringing our on-demand printed tools and displays to customers around the country.
